Bill Jedburgh, is a former Royal Hong Kong Police Inspector trained as a sniper and bodyguard. Disenchanted with the police force, he has resigned and, encouraged by a dubious entrepreneur, takes up a new occupation as an anonymous, freelance hitman called 'The Reliable Man.' In The Hong Kong Contract one of his old police buddies is killed under odd circumstances and Bill is commissioned by the Singapore Intelligence Service to investigate and take appropriate action.
